About

Welcome to my blog! As you scroll through the pages, you will find stories about my birding world, from travel posts to simple appreciations of our feathered friends. My hope is that you will leave with a sense of awe for birds, inspiration to discover your own birds, and promote stewardship for the planet. I envision this blog as a sort of free birding magazine to fill your time with hope and nature.

I was inspired to create this blog after I submitted a story to a birding magazine in 2018. Not expecting much from the submission, I focused on this blog, writing about my trips, tips, and thoughts around birding. Little did I know that this bird writing hobby would open up some interesting opportunities. Two years after submission, my story was accepted and published in the January/February 2020 edition of the Bird Watcher’s Digest. I was later asked by the San Joaquin Audubon Society to research and write a history of their chapter. Then a chance encounter with a Downy x Nuttall’s Woodpecker hybrid, the first recorded for my area, resulted in me co-writing a peer-reviewed article in the Central Valley Birds in 2024.

Birding is an activity that brings me joy, and it expands my world as I explore new places to find more birds. I am delighted for the opportunity to share my experiences through my writing, and I hope you will enjoy these stories!

A final note: As we venture into the world of Artificial Intelligence, it is important to me to state that the content on this site is 100% written by me (or another human) without any assistance from AI. I deeply value the creative process and personal expression through writing, and will always write from the heart.
